Sean Sparks, Supervisor of Dispatch Operations

Over the course of the past year, SODO Sean Sparks worked long hours and expended great effort on the Microwave Upgrade Project.  These efforts included working with various vendors on two new tower sites, designing and installing buildings at existing tower locations, designing the internal layout for new equipment installed in the new buildings, and working on the power and HVAC systems at the tower sites.  SODO Sparks’ contributions were a key factor in this project being completed on time and under budget.

In addition to the many hours spent on the microwave project SODO Sparks also worked on other technical service issues such as the NICE Recording System, establishing network connections, and assisting in the CAD and VESTA installations.  SODO Sparks also serves as the lead 9-1-1 Center Technical Liaison for the OCICS project and has spent many hours assisting in presentations to help secure funding for this project. 

The professionalism and teamwork displayed by SODO Sparks are instrumental in establishing new technologies at the 9-1-1 Center.  In recognition of his substantial contributions to the Department of Emergency Communications, SODO Sean Sparks has been selected Employee of the Month for March 2008.

James Rowley, Public Safety Telecommunicator

On February 6, 2008, PST James Rowley was working as a calltaker when he answered a call from a woman reporting a burglary at the house located behind her house.  After quickly gathering the relevant information and sending the call for dispatch PST Rowley kept the caller on the line gathering further information and updating the notes of the call, ensuring the responding units had the most up to date information.  PST Rowley kept the caller calm as she witnessed the arrival of the officer on the scene and the eventual apprehension of the suspect. 

 

The professionalism and calm demeanor displayed by PST Rowley were instrumental in the timely capture of this suspect.  In recognition of his substantial contribution to the Department of Emergency Communications PST James Rowley has been selected as Employee of the Month for February 2008.
