The
Onondaga County Board of Elections is looking for new Election inspectors
to work the polls for upcoming elections on Primary Day, Tuesday
September 9, 2008 and Election Day Tuesday November 4, 2008. Election
Day means over two thousand people will work at schools, churches,
and other facilities processing voters so that so we can conduct
a fair election, as perfect as possible. It is a long day but it
is very rewarding to know you have helped your community choose
it's leaders.
Election Inspectors are paid $150 to work in the November General
Election from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM. In a Primary, the hours are from
11:30AM to 9:30 PM and the pay is $100. You MUST be registered in
either the Democratic or Republican parties, be able to speak, read
and write English, (bilingual inspectors, especially Spanish speakers,
are very welcome) and you must be available to work the entire shift-
we cannot split shifts.
Training classes are now being scheduled, Your
decision to participate could not come at a better time!!
Just click
here to leave us an email. Please include a telephone
number where you can be reached during the day so that
we can contact you for some basic information, and schedule you
in the training class you prefer.
As an
Election Inspector you will be required to complete a 2-step training
process. The first step is a 2 hour session on the processes
and procedures related to being an inspector, followed by a mandatory
written test; the second session will be offered on a future
date and will focus on the voting machines. Persons who successfully
complete the test will have $25 added to their election inspector
pay the first time they work at the polls.
