The Department of Emergency Management was formed in April 2003 combining the former Division of Emergency Management and the former Fire Coordinator’s Office under one umbrella.
The Department of Emergency Management works collaboratively to protect life and property during disasters and emergencies in Onondaga County. It is the mission of the Department of Emergency Management to continually engage in emergency planning and preparedness for our entire community, and to promote technical skills development of all emergency first responders and support service personnel.
