The term "urbanized area" refers to a land area comprising one or more central places and the adjacent densely settled surrounding area(s) that together have a minimum residential population of 50,000 and a minimum average population density of 1,000 people per square mile. The Syracuse Urban Area (SUA) includes portions of 30 municipalities in Madison, Onondaga and Oswego Counties.
