St. Joseph's Hospital has recently been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals by the ninth 100 Top Hospitals â: National Benchmarks for Success health care industry study conducted by Solucient. Although St. Joseph's Hospital has been recognized as one of the 100 Top Hospitals for several specific services, this is the first time the hospital has been named as one of the 100 Top Hospitals overall. The study estimated that 57,000 lives could be saved and health care expenses could decrease $9.5 billion on an annual basis if all U.S. acute care hospitals were to perform at the level of those named as the 100 Top Hospitals. In addition to being named as one of the 100 Top Hospitals, St. Joseph's Hospital was awarded Magnet Recognition for Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This award has been given to only 60 of 6,000 hospitals nationwide and is the highest honor a hospital can receive for nursing services. Being designated as a Magnet hospital means that the hospital has both a positive working atmosphere for the nursing staff and superior patient results.
