SUBJECT: INTERGENERATIONAL AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth has selected winners for Onondaga County's Intergenerational awards to be presented at the seventh annual Intergenerational Awards Ceremony. County Executive Nicholas J. Pirro, the Metropolitan Commission on Aging and the Syracuse/Onondaga County Youth Board invite the public to attend the Celebration of Generations award ceremony and dinner to be held Thursday, May 15th, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Empire Room, New York State Fairgrounds.
At the ceremony, County Executive Nicholas J. Pirro and Mayor Matthew J. Driscoll will present the following awards:
Senior Citizen of the Year to Peggy Caselle of Syracuse
Caregiver of the Year to Linda Stone of Fayetteville
Outstanding Intergenerational Program to Vincent House Pre-School located in Syracuse
Community Service (Youth) to Maura Welch of Syracuse
Community Service (Senior) to Wendell Pollock of Syracuse
Resilient Youth to Bo Thompson of Syracuse
Intergenerational Volunteer (Youth) to Katheryn L. Holland of Tully
Intergenerational Volunteer (Senior) to James Stevens of Marcellus
Adult Volunteer Working with Youth to John C. Smith, Jr. of Syracuse
Professional Youth Worker to Tim Evans of Liverpool
Roslyn Bilford Career Achievement award to Rev. Larry Howard of Syracuse
The public is invited to stay for dinner, which will immediately follow the presentation of awards. The meal will consist of a choice of Chicken Francaise or Baked Sole stuffed with crabmeat, at a cost of $8.00 for seniors over the age of 60 and $15.00 for anyone under 60. Advance registration is required by Thursday, May 1, 2003.
