The Onondaga County Department of Aging is hosting a Diversity Training for Caseworkers and other human service providers on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the Dewitt Town Hall, 5400 Butternut Drive, 1st Floor Court Room, Dewitt. The workshop entitled “Investigating and Implementing Theories of Diversity Competence in Casework” will be presented by Rev. Bill N. Lott, CSW-R, ACSW, Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist.

The session is an intergenerational one, teaching human service providers who work with youth and families, as well as seniors. The workshop is designed to explore diversity competence in service delivery and to help recognize and overcome cultural bias as a barrier to services. Also discussed will be sensitivity and inclusiveness during the intake process.

The half-day training runs from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, with sign-in at 8:45 am. Although there is no charge to attend, pre-registration is required by Friday, June 20, 2003, as seating is limited.
