According to the New York State Labor Department's most recent monthly press release, the Syracuse MSA is the fastest growing Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in New York State.
In comparing year over year employment figures, the Syracuse MSA had the largest employment growth of all other New York State MSAs during the period of April 2003 over April 2002. The Syracuse MSA had 3,500 more employed persons in April 2003 than in April 2002. It is evident that our region remains strong and as a result of its diverse economy has protected itself from the economic hardships suffered throughout the nation enough to supply employment opportunities demanded by the residents of the Syracuse MSA.
