Syracuse has been named the country's best college basketball city by the editor's of The Sporting News magazine. The city ranked as the number one college basketball city in the country in part because of its 2003 NCAA championship but mostly because of the incredible support of the Syracuse Orangemen fans. The 2002-03 basketball season recorded more fans in attendance than any other school.
With three Orangemen basketball games bringing in more than 30,000 fans to the Syracuse University Carrier Dome, there was no question as to who would be named as the best college basketball city in the country, according to the magazine's executive editor Bob Hille.
