Parks for Tomorrow
October 10, 2003

Parks for Tomorrow is an infrastructure program that will upon completion have improved the condition of Onondaga County Parks for all generations.

Among the projects included in the program, is the Wegman's Playground sponsored by Wegman's. This is the first Wegmans Playground in Central New York and is be one of the main attractions of the new Onondaga Lake Park family activity center. The design for this playground was based upon community feedback. The Wegman's Playground provides activities for the fully able and those who have physical, sensory, and developmental disabilities - they can play and grow together. The playground was complete October 2003 and has already proven to be an exciting addition to the Onondaga Lake Park. The development and construction of the Onondaga Lake SkatePark was completed this fall with opening day on Saturday November 1, 2003. The SkatePark is a 16,500 sq. ft. concrete park designed specifically for skateboards, inline skates and BMX bikes. All users need to sumbit a waiver to the Onondaga Lake Park Office before entering the SkatePark. For more information on the Onondaga Lake SkatePark and adult and child waivers click here.
