Ride for Literacy

Bill Rap, 52, and Nick Marsella, 50, will ride over 200 miles from Salina to Lake Placid on their bicycles in an effort to help fight literacy. The money they raise from their bike ride to Lake Placid will be donated to Literacy Volunteers of Greater Syracuse.

Literacy Volunteers of Greater Syracuse an accredited affiliate of the nationally recognized ProLiteracy Worldwide headquartered here in Syracuse, NY. Two of the world's largest adult literacy groups, Laubach Literacy International and Literacy Volunteers of America merged to become ProLiteracy Worldwide founded in 2002.

Literacy Volunteers of Greater Syracuse will use the money donated by the two men to buy books, supplies, computers and other materials.

The men will make their ride to Lake Placid from Salina in one day. Bill Rapp is president of ACLS, a bulk mailing and marketing company. Nick Marsella is senior vice president of Byrne Dairy.
