The mission of this team is to apply expertise, in the form of training and experience, to determine the cause of fatal and serious personal injury auto accidents. The deputies in this team are experts in the field of motor vehicle accident investigation and reconstruction.

In addition to their primary road patrol duties, deputies on this team are responsible for completing all investigations involving Sheriff's Office vehicles, fatalities, serious physical injuries, significant property damage in excess of $100,000, or accidents appearing to have unusual circumstances.

A "team concept" is applied to investigating accidents by responding on an "on call" basis, which increases their proficiency. They are recognized as leaders in an increasingly technical field and have been called upon to lend assistance to other police agencies.
