
The
purpose of this unit is to utilize available resources to resolve
community issues. Problems identified do not have to be criminal in
nature, and may include quality-of-life issues. Duty hours are 7:45
p.m. to 4:00 a.m.; however, they can be adjusted for special assignments.
Some assignments include:
- Responding
to complaints of intoxicated persons, drugs, weapons, fights and
gang activity
- Enforcing
Section 65C, Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, involving underage
drinking

Monitoring locations with permits issued by New York State Liquor
Authority for on premise consumption of alcohol, beer, and wine
- Monitoring
locations licensed by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board
to conduct games of chance
- Participating
in "Operation Nite Lite" to identify probation and parole
violators
- Enforcing
commercial vehicle laws throughout the county

Providing continuous police presence during the Balloon Festivals,
Fishing Derby, and various other festivals/ events to address
the concerns of local residents and to minimize traffic delays
and parking problems
- Providing
a dedicated response to community needs that require a police presence
to maintain order and safety
- Assisting
the Warrants Investigation Unit with warrant
executions during evening hours
- Assisting
the Civil Department Field Operations Unit
with the service of Family Court Orders during evening hours
