The mission of this unit is to enforce the vehicle and traffic laws of N.Y. State, within the County of Onondaga, with special emphasis on laws regulating DWI, School Bus Safety, Occupant Restraints, and aggressive driving.

Their duties include:

• Providing D.W.I. enforcement along with the STOP/DWI Program, which is staffed by deputies and funded by motorists who have been convicted of DWI-related offenses
• Addressing community complaints involving speeding vehicles, reckless driving, passing stop signs, DWI, etc.
• Conducting seat belt safety checkpoints
• Enforcing NYS Vehicle & Traffic laws including speeding and illegal window tint
• Participating in community education regarding traffic safety through the Onondaga County Traffic Safety Council
• Instructing at the CNY Regional Police Academy
