This unit consists of three polygraphists who provide assistance in criminal investigations along with the pre-employment screening process. The polygraphists are deputies that have completed certified training in the field of polygraph examination and truth verification.

For criminal investigations, their duties include:

• Determining the best type of exam to use (polygraph or C.V.S.A., Computerized Voice Stress Analysis)
• Conducting exams when appropriate
• Providing results and investigative leads to investigators

For the pre-employment screening/security clearance process, their duties include:

• Reviewing their Human Resource file
• Conducting pre-offer and post-offer exams and providing results to Human Resources
• Sharing information with background investigators to insure consistency in the candidate's personal history file
• Administering written psychometric/psychological exams to be forwarded for evaluation by Psychological Resources, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia
• Facilitating other steps in the hiring process such as drug screen testing, fingerprinting, interviews with the Sheriff, and medical/chiropractor exams as coordinated by the Human Resource Supervisor
