If a Birth Certificate is requested by the legal guardian of a person, he or she must show court certified legal guardianship papers that have been date stamped within the last year.
A person who was born in Onondaga County, and legally adopted, can obtain a Birth Certificate with their adoptive parents names. If a Birth Certificate was never sent to us at the time of the adoption from the New York State Department of Vital Records, we can obtain one from them.
