Quality control
The Waste Stream Environmental, Inc. facility has a permit from NYSDEC under New York State 360 regulations as a solid waste facility. The N-Viro Soil product qualifies under the USEPA Exceptional Quality Sludge standard as well as the more stringent 360 Regulation. The product is permitted for unrestricted distribution under a product specific Beneficial Use Determination. StandardsStrict quality control and quality assurance procedures ensure compliance with the regulations and permits. WEP administers and oversees the WSE biosolids management program. WSE has a nine-person staff operating the biosolids processing facility daily. Staff operates and maintains the facility's equipment, monitors the pH and temperature of the material in process, and moves the finished product to the distribution center. Biosolids are produced by WEP treatment plants 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. The Waste Stream Environmental N-Viro processing facility is set up to receive and process biosolids as they are delivered. Extensive coordination between WEP's biosolids dewatering operation and the WSE processing operation occurs daily; so a consistent quality final product can be produced. EarthBlends, WSE's affiliate, has a four-person staff that markets and distributes the finished product and also provides soil testing for farmers, product tracking, and additional services requested by the product customer such as product application. The biosolids, the alkaline admixtures, and the final product are tested weekly by a lab certified by the NYS Department of Healthy. Daily quality control testing is conducted by the staff of EarthBlends and followed by analysis of the product by a certified lab. Following acceptable analytical results, the finished N-Viro Soil product is either transported from the Metro processing facility directly to a farm for application or to the EarthBlends farm in Weedsport for storage.
WEP implements an extensive Industrial Pretreatment
Program to insure that only quality biosolids are
available for processing.
