The 2008 Boynton Award Winners:

Danielle Peterson (Individual Award)

and

Onondaga County Mental Health Department (Organization Award)

Danielle Peterson, a Special Education Teacher and Reading Specialist with the Syracuse City School District, was nominated for the award by the City of Syracuse Fire Investigation Unit for her work in developing and improving educational programs delivered to the children of the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County who are involved with fire. Early intervention with these educational programs aims to reduce injury, loss of life and property damage from fires started by children.

The Onondaga County Office of Mental Health received the Organization Award in recognition of their tireless efforts toward implementing a comprehensive follow-up procedure and process to determine the effectiveness of the Juvenile Fire Setter Programs. Without the tireless efforts of the Office of Mental Health there would be no way to ensure the families helped by Project Concern truly were having all their needs met.
