Welcome to the Onondaga County Department of
Correction, located in Jamesville, New York, a suburb
of Syracuse. We are a direct supervision facility with a capacity of 516 inmates
and employing approximately 210
employees. This web site offers information on our organization and mission, opportunities afforded to inmates incarcerated at our facility, and what our inmates
provide to benefit taxpayers and the general public during their stay.
The Department of Correction is pleased to
participate in the New York Sheriff's Victim Hotline, "Victim Information
and Notification Everyday," or VINE program. This system provides
will tell you if an offender is in jail or prison in New York State and will
give you other important custody information. The hotline will also let
you leave a telephone number where you want to be notified when that offender is
released, transfers, or escapes. Click
here for more information on VINE and the many benefits it can offer.
A good place to start browsing our site is the on
line tour. This tour shows the inner workings of our facility including a
typical housing unit and inmate room. We hope this tour betters your
understanding of what a modern correctional facility looks like.
Another interesting stop is the inmate work program. This branch of the site illustrates the
many and varied work programs performed by our inmates which is a benefit to county
taxpayers while helping to develop vocational skills and responsibility for
preparation back to the community.
