The Onondaga County Health Department is currently accepting applications for the position of:
Public Health Social Work Assistant (Spanish Speaking)
Location: 421 Montgomery Street, Syracuse, NY 13202
Hours of work: Monday-Friday, days but some evenings and weekends may be necessary
Healthy Families, a program of the Onondaga County Health Department has a full-time opening for a Public Health Social Work Assistant (Spanish Speaking) in our Early Intervention Program. Individual will coordinate services for children (birth-3) who have or are at risk for developmental delays.

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelorís Degree or higher in sociology, social work, psychology, special education, early childhood education, human services* or a closely related field; or,
B) Four (4) years of professional or paraprofessional work experience in social work, social casework, human services*, early childhood education or special education.
*NOTE: Human Services comprise those career fields in which practitioners help others to solve their physical or emotional problems or to meet their physical, emotional or mental needs, or to enhance their cultural, social, spiritual or physical conditions. Practitioners in this class are typically characterized by working with people on an individual or group basis. Responsibility for the custody or detention of individuals or for determining program eligibility is not considered qualifying experience.
SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENT:
Candidates must be able to read, write and converse fluently in Spanish and English.
