DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

This position acts as a subject matter expert for specific Enterprise business or criminal justice applications. Duties include working as liaison with operational and technical staff on clarifying and documenting requirements and functional specifications, submitting change requests for bug fixes, enhancements, new functionalities, modules, programs and systems. The position performs configuration changes according to approved requests and project assignments. Performs testing and certifies the technical customizations and configurations work according to approved functional and technical specifications. Supervision is not a function of this class. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

Acts as subject matter expert for application(s)/system(s); document requirements, gap analysis and functional specifications for new functionality, features in application environments.
Evaluates change requests, problems, incident and event tickets associated with designated applications; performs research, troubleshooting, escalates to other staff or vendors as needed to work through resolution; documents resolution, root cause and preventative actions; updates knowledgebase(s).
Creates test plans, scripts/scenarios and conducts testing, documenting outcomes and certifying quality of changes/new functionality/features.
Creates training materials including manuals, tools, tips and videos as needed in support of new projects, releases, etc.
Performs training, mentoring, knowledge transfer when appropriate such as for new projects, workflows and significant enhancements / releases.
Performs and tests configuration changes based on change requests and approved initiatives.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Thorough knowledge and experience in business processes and work flows associated with designated applications/systems.
Advanced skills in configuration capabilities within ERPs or associated application environments.
Ability to plan and coordinate the work of testers, programming and technical staff in the development and support of new applications modules and new functionality and releases.
Demonstrated knowledge in project planning, task management, estimating assignments and scope of work.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability work well with tight deadlines.
Ability to adapt to change.
Ability to analyze, troubleshoot application workflow and configuration issues

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Baccalaureate degree or higher degree and two (2) years of work experience or its part time equivalent in the functional support, gathering, testing and training of an Enterprise System or other software system which is used to provide core services across an organization and on which other applications are dependent on; or,

B. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an associate’s degree and four (4) years of work experience or its part time equivalent in the functional support, gathering, testing and training of an Enterprise System or other software system which is used to provide core services across an organization and on which other applications are dependent on; or,

C. Six (6) years of work experience or its part time equivalent in the functional support, gathering, testing and training of an Enterprise System or other software system which is used to provide core services across an organization and on which other applications are dependent on.
