DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves responsibility for conduct of recreation activities or care of a facility used for recreation purposes. Under the direct supervision of a recreation leader or other staff members, this is routine work performed under specific instructions, concerned with the use of some physical facility or the conduct of some activity. This position involves responsibility for the orderly assignment of facilities, the collection of tickets and fees, the issuing and collection of equipment, the orderly conduct of participants and the maintenance of facilities. Supervision over employees is generally not exercised by this class. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Conducts recreation activities.
Maintains safety and order and enforces rules and regulations.
Performs routine custodial tasks, such as sweeping floors, mopping excess water from pool deck or locker room floors.
Issues and collects supplies, such as play balls and table games.
May check in and out shoes, clothes, or possessions for participants using pools or rinks.
Assigns courts and other facilities to participants.
May keep simple records such as lists, logs and participation figures.
May prepare courts or play fields for use by removing debris and chalking play lines.
May operate a simple cash register.

There are no minimum qualifications for this position.
SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENT
When Assigned to the Syracuse Housing Authority:
Possession of a valid Class V driver's license issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles at time of appointment.
