Vernon Williams, Jr.
COUNTY LEGISLATOR – 16th DISTRICT
Vernon Williams Jr. is the Onondaga County Legislator for the 16th District which includes Syracuse’s South Side and a portion of the West Side. Vernon is a Community Activist and a Youth Pastor.
Legislator Williams is a graduate of Corcoran High School in the class of 2007. He studied Biblical theology at Payton Temple Church of God In Christ in Syracuse.
Previously, Legislator Williams has served as an organizer for 1199 SEIU Upstate NY. Since 2012
he has served as a manager in retail businesses for local Walmart and Burlington stores.
Issues he is focused most on include housing, concentrated poverty, racial justice, criminal justice reform, and education. Legislator Williams is passionate about getting more city residents involved in County Government by raising their awareness of how it impacts their lives.
Currently, he serves on the Planning & Economic Development committee of the legislature as well as the Ways & Means committee.
