Over 20 miles of year-round trails are the prime attraction at the "Adirondacks of Central New York." The oldest county park contains more than six square miles of rugged forest terrain detailed in free maps available at Skyline Lodge; a self-guided Nature Trail is the perfect introductory hike.

  • Walking/Hiking - Year-round - The vest way to experience the great outdoors is to explore the wooded trails of Highland. Click here for a hiking map (pdf)
  • Mountain Biking - May 1 - November - Daily - There is no better place to give your bike a workout than on the trails at the "Adirondacks of Central New York." Highland offers a mix of country road, mountain trail and backwoods adventure while opportunities for Off-Road Bicycling can be found on park roads and on fire lanes. Maps available at the Park Office located inside Skyline Lodge. Donation is $2 per vehicle.
  • Book Now!Youth Group Camping - Five cabins and large tenting area, available year round, are devoted to organized youth groups. Facilities rent from $29-$69 per night, which averages about $2 per child. Reserve online today, click on the "Book Now" link or call the Parks Main Office at 451-7275 for information. The rustic cabins are now available on a limited basis for family groups, call Highland Forest directly for more information.
  • Picnics - Meetings - Weddings - Reserve a Picnic Shelter (available May-October) or Skyline Lodge, (available year round) for your next special event - Learn More
  • Pioneer Museum - Open June - August, weekends 1-4pm and by appointment. Operated by the Fabius Historical Society, the museum depicts the history of Highland Forest from the late 1700's to the present through photos and artifacts. A new exhibit features a farm toy collection courtesy of local resident Harvey Skeele.
