A Message from
County Executive
Joanie Mahoney:

Since assuming office in January 2008, promoting environmental sustainability has been a top priority of mine. The rationale behind it is simple – we must look ahead and secure, to the best of our ability, our children’s future livelihood. The environmental investments we make today will pay dividends to taxpayers for years to come in cleaner air, a healthier environment and a more fiscally sound county government.

We work with many different organizations on multiple projects and this website is one way to make sure we communicate this to the public. It’s how we plan to inform people of what we are accomplishing.

Our "Path for a Sustainable Future" is a start, but it is not the end of what we need to do to make our community a better place to live.

We are growing and learning new ways every day to be more environmentally conscious, at home and in the workplace, and we will continue doing all we can to make sure Onondaga County is on the forefront of the green movement.
