green building practices:

One of the first in the nation to adopt a LEED Building Incentive for privately-owned buildings, the County’s Department of Economic Development and Industrial Development Agency (OCIDA) offer an enhanced Payment in Lieu of Tax agreement (PILOT) for newly constructed green buildings. The incentive is available to LEED Platinum, Gold or Silver certified facilities, that otherwise are eligible for OCIDA benefits. The Welch Allyn Corporation, an international medical device corporation located in Skaneateles, NY, is expected to be the first recipient of the Green PILOT incentive for a Silver LEED certified, state-of-the art, corporate headquarters. The Green PILOT will provide a financial incentive to Welch Allyn and also result in a reduction of its energy usage. Also through a collaboration with the Central New York Technology Development Organization and Clough Harbor Associates, the County Economic Development Department is helping to introduce green processes and energy efficiencies to local manufacturers. The Department also is partnering with KEMA and NYSERDA to introduce to green efficiencies to the hospitality industry
