   recycle – onondaga county parks

material and waste recycling:

Onondaga County Parks focuses on making sure that they recycle as much as they can. With so many people visiting on a daily basis there is much waste that needs to be dealt with.
  • Bottles, cans, paper, cardboard, metal, batteries, ink cartridges, light bulbs and motor oil generated by County Parks operations are all recycled
  • Recycling containers have been replaced at all shelters, lodges and for special events
  • Soon they will begin using biodegradable dog waste bags at Jamesville Beach, Highland Forest, Onondaga Lake Park and Pratt’s Falls Parks
  • The zoo collects 200 pounds of elephant waste per elephant per day and ships it to a local facility, which composts it for agricultural use
