WEP's Pollution Prevention (P2) Program aims
to reduce pollutants discharged from industry,
commercial businesses, and the public through a
cooperative, nonregulatory approach.
A primary objectives is public education. By
demonstrating good practices and alternatives to
pollution, we can all work together to improve our
environment.
Recognition for P2 efforts
To recognize companies that achieve environmental
compliance and reduce pollution, WEP established an
Industrial Achievement Award Program and a Pollution
Prevention Award Program.

Twenty-eight local companies were in 100% compliance
with their Onondaga County Industrial Wastewater
Discharge Permits during 2006.
